Punjab government responds to petition against ban on Basant Festival


The Lahore High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government on petitions against the ban on kite-flying and demanded a reply within 10 days.

Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Mamun Rasheed Sheikh heard the petitions of two citizens, including Muhammad Ali, challenging the ban on kite-flying.
Applicant's lawyer, Khalid Zafar, pointed out that the ban on kite flying has left a large number of people unemployed.

The petitioner's lawyer pointed out that the constitution allows any citizen to do his business, but unemployment of persons connected to the ban on kite-making is a violation of the constitutional rights and a violation of the provisions of the Constitution.

Lawyer Khalid Zafar urged that the ban on kite racing should be lifted so that the people involved could get jobs again.

The court issued a notice to the Punjab government on the petitioner's request and sought response within 10 days.
